
The remains of former Deputy President of the Nigerian Guild of Editors NGE,Elder Esinjo Oqua Itu have been laid to rest in Calabar, the Cross Rivers State Capital.
Oqua Itu a graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Lagos was once the Vice President East,NGE and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Mass Communication, Calabar Polytechnic,now Cross University of Technology.

He was appointed as Editor Daily of the Nigerian Chronicle in 1990 and rose to become the Editor- in- Chief and General Manager of the Cross Rivers Newspaper Corporation.
At the funeral were the NGE President,Mr Mustapha Isah, the Vice President East NGE,Mr Sam Egballa and a host of Editors and other members of the media.

On Friday, the Guild led by the President paid a condolence visit to the family of the deceased and attended the buriall ceremony on Saturday.
In a statement, Isah described Elder Oqua Itu “as a thorough bred professional who contributed immensely to the growth and development of journalism into Nigeria.

” Our Elder was a teacher and an eagle-eyed Editor of editors
” The History of the Guild won’t be complete without the mention of his name.

” We in the Guild will solely miss him,but we take solace in the fact that Elder Oqua Itu left an indelible imprint in the journalism profession in Nigeria”.
