Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC are meeting to find an end to the crisis rocking the party.
The meeting which is holding at the Kebbi State Governor’s Lodge has 17 governors in attendance.
Current Matters gathered that top on the agenda of the meeting is the party’s national congress and resolving the issues bedevling the party that could mar its chances in the 2023 general elections.
The party is currently riddled with myriad of issues arising from the state congresses held nationwide with no fewer than 10 states having parallel executives.
The APC CECPC led by Mai Mala Buni , Governor of Yobe State was set up on June 15,2020 , the tenure of the committee was extended on December 8,2020 amid call for its resignation.In June 2021, Buhari approved another 6 months for the Caretaker Committee.
On Saturday,,APC Youths under the aegis of The Progressives Youth Movement sacked the Buni- led Caretaker/ Extraordinary) Convention Planning Commitee saying the Committee failed to organize convention two years of its appointment.
Briefing newsmen after a townhall meeting in Kaduna,one of the conveners,, Prince Mustapha Audu said the youths have rejected the Buni- led commitee for its inability to perform its task adding that the youths are set to appoint a caretaker committee next week to give the party a new direction.
Last week, the APC National secretariat at Blantyre Crescent, Wuse 2 was sealed by security agents to ward of drumming incursions into the premises.
