…. As Mimiko proves governor worthy of sobriquet’ Mr Project”
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has commissioned the Rumuola flyover bringing the total flyover constructed under his administration to 9.
The Governor who spoke during the commissioning said that the projects constructed by Julius Berger were evidenced of commitment to good governance by his administration.
Governor Wike prayed for his successor to be better than he and advised those interested in the top job to check their level of preparedness particularly in the area of delivery of people oriented projects.
He assured that those who sabotage the effort of government by stealing manholes on highway will not go scot free saying “I will teach them how to treat criminals.
Wike said all the flyovers are in Federal Government roads but regretted that the federal government had not deemed it neccessary to ask how the projects were initiated and implemented or offered any form of partnership.
He thanked Julius Berger for the wonderful job they are doing saying each of the flyovers costs the state a total of N7 billion.
In his remarks,the Special Guest of Honour,Olusegun Mimiko said Wike has proved worthy of his sobriquet ‘ Mr Project’ saying one other other truth about the governor was his’ straight razor sharp and unabashed pursuit of righting some fundamental distortions in our polity is a constant nightmare to many.’
Mimiko, a former governor of Ondo state described Wike as one who talks with pride and walks the talk as his achievements in governance have shown .
‘ Your unwavering commitment to is obvious from your body language, is obvious from your utterances,It is even obvious from your swag when you come out to commission your projects
‘ We cannot but pray that you stay the course and never waver in putting people first in all that you do.
Mimiko said the commitment of the governor was ‘an encouragement to Nigerians to see a governor that says it as it is,that takes pride in the works of his hands and that he is ready to go to any length to protect the interest of his people’.
He thanked the governor for placing security of the state on the front burner in consonance with the governor’s standpoint that ‘without security there will be no development”
The former governor said Wike was not only a pride to Rivers State but Nigeria and indeed his political party ,the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ,adding that Wike had become a brand in the nation ‘who says something the way it is’.
A number of projects have been lined up for commissioning in the days ahead. They include the GRA flyover, the Ezimgbu Road,Tombia Road Extension, Safe Home,Borokiri and Odiokwu Internal Road . Projects to be flagged off by the governor also in the days ahead include, Chokocho- Igbodo Road Oyigbo- Okoloma Road and Magistrate Court Complex.
