Eleven Commodity Associations recently inaugurated by the Nigerian Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment have pledged to support the Federal Government’s plan to create 100 million jobs.
Mr. Clement Omoyemi Ohikhueme, National President, National Apple Farmers, Processors and Marketers Association (NAFPMAN), made the pledge while speaking on behalf of the 11 Association Presidents.
He stated that the members of the Association are ready and well positioned to contribute their quota to the efforts of the Federal Government to create 100 million jobs.
Mr. Ohikhueme thanked the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment for nurturing the Associations, but called for more support in order to enable them stabilise and be able to deliver on its work plan to the benefit of all Nigerians.
He further commended the efforts of the Federal Government on measures taken on Climate Change and promised that all the Associations will key into the programme.
Earlier in her address, the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Mrs. Evelyn Ngige, expressed the readiness of the Ministry to continue to deliver on its key mandate, which includes creation of jobs and reduction of poverty.
She explained that her Ministry has nurtured more than 40 Associations and will continue to provide guidance and support for them in order to be able to meet up with the demands of both domestic and export markets within the next two years.
