….. Donates generously to Children in line with Christmas
As part of efforts to empower the boy-child to be self reliant, the Rotary Club of Rumuomasi has enrolled some orphanage young boys at the Badamia Children Homes in acquiring basic skills in Computer Science and Catering.
President of the Rotary Club of Rumuomasi Dickson Ofonmbuk-Usen while presenting a cheque of two hundred thousand naira to the management of Badamia Children Homes said the gesture is in line with the Rotary International area of focus of economic and community development, to create opportunities for the young and old in the society.
Dickson Ofonmbuk-Usen also said in the spirit of the yuletide, the Club under its International Rotary Days to impact the host community, donated some food stuffs and electronics to the Orphanage Boys Home.
“we felt we could use the opportunity to not only speak on personal health hygiene and disease prevention, being month of giving we also felt it’s the right time to make the Christmas worth the while for children picked from the street. We also empowered some of them in various skills acquisition to make them self reliant and useful to the society’’.
On his part, Assistant governor zone 9, of the Rotary International District 9141, Dr Raymong Nge who delivered a health talk to the young boys at the orphanage Home, advised them to take their personal hygiene seriously to avoid illhealth..
Dr Nge who was the guest speaker said Rotary was concerned about disease Prevention and Treatment that’s why members educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases.
“We in Rotary educate and equip communities to stop the spread of life-threatening diseases. Rotary members have hundreds of health projects underway around the world at any given time. We believe good health care is everyone’s right”.
Our correspondent reports that the club’s Assistant Governor, Blessing Timothy advised the young boys to use the one hundred tooth brushes, tooth paste, bathing soaps and body cream donated to them by the Rotary club of Rumuomasi to improve their personal hygiene.
Our correspondent also reports that food stuffs and electronics were also donated by the club to give the children a memorable Christmas celebration.
He said the club has done what others it appealed to for assistance turned down.
