The Rotary Club of Port Harcourt East has donated some toiletries and food stuff worth over two hundred thousand naira to new born mothers and their babies at the Obio Cottage Community Health center in Rumubiakani.
President of the Rotary club of Port Harcourt East, Prince Nelson John while presenting the gift items to management of the Health center said the gesture is done in the spirit of celebrating the Christmas season which falls in the Rotary Family Days.
Prince Nelson John said the club is happy to reach out to families to put smiles on their faces with the gifts.
“Rotary Club of Port Harcourt East visited Obio Cottage Health centre to present some Christmas gift to some new born mothers and children as part of our annual rituals of reaching out to families in the hospitals, homes, this Christmas season. The club recognizes the importance of the family as the basic component of society. In keeping with the ideal of service to humanity, the family and its wellbeing must be the starting point”, he said.
President of the Rotary club of Port Harcourt East, Prince Nelson John said the club will continue to impact positively to the welfare of its host communities with sustainable projects.
He said the club, also used the season of the yelitde and the Rotary Family Day to have fun with families of members of the club.
“ As the Easterners,, we recognise, appreciate and celebrate the family as a unit and Rotary as one big family. What better way can there be to end the year than a gathering of family and friends in a relaxed atmosphere of fun and pleasure.
For this year’s event, Rotarians, their spouses, children and friends turned out in their numbers to enjoy themselves. Rotarians and guests had a variety of food and drinks to choose from as members brought in food and other “edibles” ensuring that there was more than enough to wine and dine on”, President Prince Nelson-John said.
Our correspondent Precious Ahiakwo-Ovie reports that Vice President of the Rotary Club of Port Harcourt East Rtn Uruabali Samuel-Chizoba and Unto, Family of Rotary Celebration Rtn Monica along side the club’s admin Rtn Amaka presented the gifts to the management of the Obio Cottage Health Center.
Other member’s of the club present include Rtn Imaobong Okon Obiosio, and Rtn Loveth Amaka Ikechukwu.
