The ministry of Education has launched e-learning website, which is free and accessible to all learners and teachers.
The platform, which is designed to be user friendly, makes it easy to get endless and unlimited access to explore over 15,000 educational materials and resources on the e-library.
The Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Tony Echono, said on Tuesday that the platform comprises of various sections, ranging from primary to secondary sections.
He reiterated that the platform is verifiable and accessible to learners, teachers, researchers and other stakeholders covering the three tiers of the educational sectors.
Mr Echono further added that the implementation of these e-learning initiatives is timely, since the advent of covid19 pandemic heralded a new normal compelling a rethink and acceleration of strategies in alternative means of delivering learning.
He also lauded the Federal ministry of education for developing a covid 19 education sector and strategy, which has been updated on its portals for sharing of resources across the country.
This according to him has enabled other states to develop their own state- specific strategies in providing messages and contents on preventive measures of curbing the pandemic.
Subsequently, Nigeria has also recognized the importance of scaling up access to digital skills to improve job prospect for youth in our fast changing and digitalized economy.
Mr Echono asserted that as part of the e-cloud project and inspire, the ministry has so far produced the following; 4,000 video lessons for basic level, 7,000 video lessons for secondary, another 4,000 audio lessons for secondary level, while the inspire section facilitate materials for basic secondary and tertiary levels of education.
Consequently, the ministry has set in place strategies and guidelines to efficiently work with stakeholders in the sector to promote growth and sustainability.
The Permanent Secretary said the programme will strengthen the growth and participation of the e-learning initiative.
