The Bishop of Etche Ethnic Nationality,Rt Rev Precious Okechukwu Nwala has called for the reengineering of the minds of the people of Etche Ethnic Nationality to enjoy growth and progress.
Bishop Nwala who made the call in a sermon on Sunday at a general thanksgiving service which included Ogbakor Etche, and Prof Kenneth Nweke at the Cathedral Church,Okomoko Egwi Umuayagu in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State said it was important for the people to think positive saying that that was a sure way of erasing stagnation and usher in the needed development to the area.
The Bishop who traced infrastructural development of Etche to the times of Chief the Hon JHE Nwuke, thanked the governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike for siting projects in the area saying it signalled a new dawn for progress and prosperity of the people.
The Bishop praised the Leadership of Ogbakor Etche, the Apex Socio,- cultural organisation of the people of Etche for dedicating a day to thank God and urged the organisation to be politically neutral.
Bishop Nwala who also used the occasion to lament the environmental health hazard of black soot in the state called on the authorities concerned to bring to an end illegal Petroleum Refining activities which he identified as cause of the black soot.
He said delay or failure to bring to an end the illegal activities could spell doom for residents .
