The National Association of Nigerian Students( NANS) in conjunction with Joint Campus Committee ( JCC) Ekiti State has expressed concern over the surge of Underage commercial sex workers in the State.
In a new year message on Saturday, January 1,2022 in Ado Ekiti, issued by the Secretary,Sikiru Aderibige, the association said it was pathetic that many underage students are now engaging in prostitution, describing the act as dangerous to the future of the state.
Identifying the cause of the debased activity to underfunding, the union advised the federal and state governments to devote more funding to education in 2022 “before it becomes an uncontrollable wild fire”
The Student Union scribe expressed optimism of the new year in relation to happiness, peace, and prosperity to students population through improved budgetary provision and adequate security on campuses, advised politicians not to set fire to the state ahead and during the June 18 governorship election in the state
He advised the people of the state to vote for a student -friendly governor that would tackle the challenges of students and rid the society of the menace of prostitution.
