The Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigerian ( PASAN) the umbrella body of staff working in the National Assembly on Monday, embarked on a protest to demand implementation of minimum wage.
The workers carried placards accusing the Chairman of the National Assembly Service Commission ( NASC)for insensitivity over their plight.
In a resolution signed by the Chairman of PASAN Sunday Sabiyi and Vice Chairman,M.A Liman, the union accused the management of the National Assembly and the National Assembly Service Commission for deliberate breach of the MOU signed on the 13th of April 2021 agreeing on “full implementation of the new Minimum wage Act,2019, and the Revised Condition of Service”

The union therefore resolved that following the breach of the understanding reached it was compelled ” to put the management on protest notice”
President Muhammadu Buhari had in April 2019, signed the new Minimum wage bill into law. The law formally provides a new pay structure for Nigerian workers
The National Assembly had passed the bill approving N30,000 as minimum pay for workers.
