….. Demands immediate redeployment of NSCDC Officer
Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has issued a 48 hour ultimatum to all council chairmen in the state to identify illegal refinery in their localities or lose their jobs.
Wike issued the threat during a meeting with Heads of security and local Government Chairmen on Friday in Port Harcourt.
” Every Council Chairman must go and identify where the illegal refineries are put in place.”
He warned that any local government chairman who failed to submit the list where they are doing the bunkering and who they are should be prepared to face the music.
According to the governor, the activities of the oil bunkerers is worse than that of Boko Haram in view of sabotage in revenue generation and destruction of lives of the people and urged the local government chairmen to see it a duty to protect the lives of the people by reporting those involved in the act.
The Governor also announced a cash reward of N2m to chairmen who are able to discover sites of illegal refining activities in their areas.
Governor Wike blamed security agents for aiding illegal refiners and demanded the immediate deployment of an officer of the NSCDC in charge of of the Anti- Pipeline Vandalism Unit in the state for allegedly aiding the operators of Illegal act.
