The Director General of the Progressives Governors Forum ,Salihu Lukman has resigned from office.
Lukman had been unequivocal about the the handling of the national convention by the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Commitee led by Yobe State Governor,Mai Mala Buni
It was gathered the Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC were divided on whether the convention should hold or not. While some of the governors endorsed a further extension of the Congress to give the Caretaker Committee more time to operate, others simply wanted the convention to hold in February as scheduled.
It was learnt that the fate of the DG was sealed during Sunday’s meeting of the governors as those who called for his resignation had their way after a heated argument.
President Muhammadu Buhari had in November 2021 , approved February 2022 for the National Convention of the APC.
The President’s approval came in the midst of division and acrimony within the party with some groups appointing successors of the Buni led commitee.
