Operatives of the NIS had seized Dr Odili,’s passport at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport upon his arrival from a trip to the United Kingdom on 20 June,2021

On December 21,2021, Justice Enyang Ikwo of an Abuja High Court ordered the NIS to pay Odili N2million fine over disobedience for release of the ex – governor’s passport.
The legal adviser of the NIS Jimoh Abdulkadir Adamu reportedly gave in to the court order by releasing the passport to Peter Odili in his residence in Abuja.
Odili’s passport was seized on alleged order of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
It was gathered that Adamu on Monday submitted a motion confirming the release of the passport directly to Odili at the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The NIS legal adviser was also summoned by Justice Ekwo to appear before the court to defend his role in the refusal of release of the passport to the former governor.. Reports indicate that he is set to do so.
It was learnt that the motion and affidavit of compliance, confirming the release of the passport has been served on Odili’s lawyer, Chief Ifedayo Adedipe(SAN).
