Governor Muhammad Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has been described as the most friendly Labour Governor in the country. The President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees Comrade Akeem Ambali Olatunji stated this when he lead the executive members of the union on a courtesy call to the Governor at Government House Dutse.
Olatunji said the union was aware that Governor Badaru was the first Governor that implemented the N30,000 minimum wage and also pay workers salary as well as pension and gratuity to retired civil servants as and when due since assuming the mantle of leadership in the state.
He said the union found it necessary to appreciate the good relationship that exists between Government and Local Government Employees in Jigawa state where local Government grant has not be tampered by the State Government.
In addition to that, according to the President of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees, Jigawa state remains the most peaceful state in the country as a result of good governance under the leadership of
Governor Badaru Abubakar. He said as a mark of respect, the union decided to honour the Governor as Labour Governor of The Year 2021
The NULGE leader said, the governor was chosen for the award in consideration of his performance and good relationship with workers whom he regards as key partners in governance.
In his response, Governor Badaru described civil servants in the state as the engine room of Government for effective public service delivery in the state and promised to continue collaborating with them to achieving the desired results.
The governor said his administration gives free hands to local Government councils to operate within the law without state government’s interference. He said government will continue to safeguard the welfare of workers in the state and expressed his happiness and appreciation for the honor, described it as a source of encouragement.
