The ruling All Progressives Congress APC has rescheduled its National Convention for March 26,2022.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting of the Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Commitee ( CECPC)on Abuja on Monday, the party said it will now hold its National Convention side by side with its Zonal Congresses earlier announced.
The Party statement said activities leading to the National Convention and Zonal Congresses will begin on February 24.
The Party had earlier fixed its national convention for February 26 but five days to the convention, the CECPC chaired by the Yobe State Governor,Mai Mala Buni, wrote to INEC notifying it of its resolve to hold Zonal Congresses.
The content of that letter was clearly silent on conducting a national convention fuelling doubts from party members of alleged clandestine move by the CECPC to highjack the party machinery for their selfish purposes.
An anonymous party faithful remarked” certainly this people lack integrity. How come they promised convention for February 26 and then shift it’s by one whole month without informing key stakeholders? It’s like they think everyone is foolish so they can do whatever they like”
Another said” They have forgotten what happened to some states during the 2019 election, They don’t know that carelessness on their part can spell doom for the party in 2023.
Yet another said” I don’t think the APC wants a general elections in 2023. The drums playing are very familiar. I hope we do sink soon.
