Some Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress APC have reportedly travelled to London to see President Muhammadu Buhari.
The visit it was gathered was in connection with the worsening internal wranglings over who should lead the party ahead of its forth coming National Convention.
At the center of the discussion are two governors,Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State ousted by the party in a discreet coup last two weeks said to be endorsed by the leader of the party. The other is Governor Sani Bello of Niger State, who at the moment is overseeing the party affairs but unrecognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.
Both men and a few of their supporters are in London to draft the attention of the president towards their interest.
President Buhari had told the governors to stop the pull him down game and mend fences for the overall interest of the party saying anything other than unity at this time could lead to ruination of the party.
Buhari who spoke through his aide on Media and Publicity,Garba Shehu said the Convention will hold in accordance with the party’s timetable and urged leaders and followers to stop mudslinging and character assassination if the party should repeat its victory in coming elections.
While a meeting of the President and some governors are underway, the Party has asked the Secretary, Senator John Akpanudodehe who had supposedly resigned to issue a statement for a meeting of the National Executive Council .
Recall that INEC had on the 9th of March written a letter to the APC refusing to identify with its March 17 NEC meeting aimed at recognizing Governor Bello as the new helmsman of the party.
The Electoral Body told the ruling party that it does not recognize the change of leadership in the party saying the Buni- led exco was still legitimate as effecting any change in leadership would require 21 days notice .
Meantime, all eyes are on the APC in the new week to see if it would continue to flaunt a house of commotion or it would simmer down and prepare for eventualities
