The Academic Staff Union of Universities ASUU,has extended its strike for another two months.
This was the outcome of a meeting of the National Executive Council NEC of the union in Abuja Sunday night.
The decision to further extend the strike followed failure by the government to reach an agreement with the union over grievances which include the proposed union’s salary platform, University Transparency and Accountability Solution( UTAS,) and earned allowances for 2021 among others.
A statement credited to the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy, Government last week discredited UTAS as alternative platform for payment of salaries in the universities saying it failed integrity test which ASUU denied
ASUU president, Emmanuel Osodeke told newsmen that the platform scored 77% in integrity test conducted on August 10,2021 in NUC by the National Information Technology Development Agency ( NITDA) with all end users present and was satisfactory and preferred for payment of salaries in the nation’s universities to the government Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System ( IPPIS)..
