The Governor of Ebonyi State, David Nweze Umahi has reacted to the statement credited to his Rivers State counterpart, Nyesom Wike in a viral video in which he was quoted as saying that he masterminded the Abuja High Court judgement of (he) Umahi’s defection to the All Progressives Congress APC
In a statement on Monday issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Francis Nwaze to the press, Umahi said that the comments by the Rivers Governor did not come to him as a surprise and though he would have ignored it, it had become very neccessary to clear the air on few aspects.
The statement said” Wike from the statement has taken responsibility for the pronouncement of the Federal High Court,thus requiring that he explains to Nigerians how he now calls the shots in the Nation’s Judiciary without being a judge.
Umahi said while he would not join issues with Wike on the judgement that is already pending in court,it would not lose sight of the many accomplishments of the governor which has triggered envy of Wike against the governor of Ebonyi State
” It is on record that Governor Umahi since the legal battle started has conducted himself properly by filling an appeal in a Court of Superior records and did not resort to horse- trading like his counterpart, Nyesom Wike who speaks as if he has the judiciary in his armpit, which is impossible.
” We are however not unaware that the envy of Nyesom Wike is the earth- shattering accomplishments of Governor Umahi- led administration in Ebonyi State which include but not limited to to over seventeen twin flyovers, State of the art King David University of Medical Sciences, the least of its kind in Africa, the shopping Mall, the best International Airport in Nigeria, payment of civil servants, massive empowerment of the youths, widows, clergy and so much more.”
It urged Ebonyi people and supporters of Governor Umah across the countryi to remain peaceful and resolute .
