As preparation heightens ahead of 2023 polls, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and close associate of Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Sani Sidi, has decamped from the APC to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
Sidi is the second APC topnotch to move to PDP in 24 hours, after another close associate of the Kaduna Governor, who is also the Special Adviser, Investment Promotion, Jimi Lawal also jettison APC for the PDP in Ogun State.
Sidi, who was former Director General of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and governorship aspirant in 2019 in the state, made his intention known at the PDP Kaduna Central Senatorial Office, Ungwar Seriki, at the weekend.
He told the teeming supporters, who stormed the party office, that there was no place like home. “I am back home and for good,” Sidi stated.
He advised PDP members at all levels to close ranks and unite so that the party can make progress at the local, state and federal levels.
Speaking on his gubernatorial ambition for 2023, he said, he is still consulting with party stakeholders, chieftains and loyalists and would soon make his intention known.
“It is no longer a rumour, I’m now a PDP member. We are consulting with stakeholders on my aspiration. PDP leaders and stakeholders need to unite, otherwise we would not succeed. As politicians and members of PDP, we need to come together and unite for our party to progress and forge ahead,” he noted.
Sidi was accompanied to the secretariat by former Commissioner for Science and Technology, Prof. Dogara Mato; former PDP Zonal Secretary, and Barrister M. Aliyu among others.
