The Governor of Anambra State,Prof. Chukwuma Soludo has alleged that he met only about N300m and over N100BN debts in the state coffers.
Speaking as guest on Arise TV on Tuesday, the governor said audited accounts of the state showed that he has inherited debts running into hundreds of billions of naira from Willie Obiano, immediate past governor of the state.
Soludo described the situation as pathetic, but expressed hope of making money to fulfil his campaign promises for infrastructure and development of the state
The revelation of the former Central Bank Governor comes amid alleged financial crimes levelled against Obiano.
Last Thursday,, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) hours after the hand -over ceremony in Anambra State,arrested Obiano at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and whisked him to Abuja to quiz him of alleged theft of public money running into billions of naira.
Two days ago, the EFCC announced the release of the former governor but said that he was still in custody due to inabllity to meet the bail conditions.
