By Dr. Onujagbe Nasir.
In the precolonial era, the people of northern Nigeria were known for trust and keeping of promise being reached by concerned parties. This singular attitude endeared them to many people and they became a reference point in terms of trust and fearing of God on religious front.
This trust quality was tagged as cultural belief due to their deep involvement in the religious activities. The north then was monolithic under a single voice of late sir Ahmadu Bello of blessed memory. This behavioral fancy then is today being threatened by new characters that has emerged in the entire northern space for selfish interest.
However, the phrase “TRUST” becomes hanging on the scale of justice , transparency and fair dealing for the fact that northern authority became “confederated” as all unit cells are pockets of leaders different from the past.
The perceived lost of trust of the northerners in polity is greeted with mix feelings where citizens are divided on both opposing sides either for or against.
The die is cast, the only vindication left for the majority of northerners to prove themselves of betrayal is nothing but Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s presidential ambition come 2023. The Trust fear had once manifested in June 12, 1993 annulled Abiola election, a kinsman to Ahmed Bola Tinubu which was committed under the leadership of a northern head of state, General Ibrahin Babangida.
It’s no longer news that Tinubu is the man behind the candidature of President Muhamadu Buhari’s regime from 2015 till date.
Tinubu committed his personal resources, manpower, valuable time and of course laid his life on the line for the enthronement of this administration. He indeed crossed the “Red-Line” of Good luck Jonathan’s electoral territorial integrity, no wonder his bourdillon country home was militarized with heavy duty armoured tanks in 2015 Presidential election that ushered in Buhari to governance.
It is very clear that these risks taken by Tinubu were not without promise of “I rob ur back and u rob my back” either written on paper or in principle.
If what am thinking is what u’re thinking too it becomes obvious that the north led by President Muhammadu Buhari should take the part of honour by rewarding Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu accordingly to win both APC Presidential primary and the general election where Buhari will lead the north enmass to the poll as he (Tinubu) did in Southwest and Nigeria at large in 2015 and 2019 to avoid repeating June 12 saga and portray the north as an ingrate people.
Tinubu, who is celebrating his 70 years anniversary with a colloquium in Lagos, has greatly paid his due in the nation’s democracy in all fronts, ranging from military dictatorship to Chief Olusegun Obasanjo’s military-civilian government of 1999 to 2007.
From Social Media and television programmes, several northern personalities have testified to the standing accord between the Southwest and Northern states come 2023.
Tinubu is not just coming to power for the sake of it, he is a reserved political messiah by almighty God to rescue the nation at a particular point in time, which is no other time than 2023. He is a gifted astute administrator, political engineer, an economist, political landscaper, a political calculus and human development master, who in his sleep knows whom to appoint for a particular position for maximum result, don’t be surprised if he appoints me.
Tinubu’s presidency will be the first time ever a born democrat will be voted as President of this great country. His anticipated service agenda will bring Nigeria back to its past glory and stands the country out in the committee of industrialized nations of the world, making Nigeria an industrial hub of African continent.
Once more, promise is a debt, jettisoning it has consequences on generations to come. All eyes on the North to reciprocate the deed done by Tinubu.
