Governnor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike of Rivers State on Saturday met with leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Lagos where he asked them for support for his aspiration on May 28 and 29 Presidential primaries to fly the party flag in the 2023 General Election.
Governor Wike who descended from his vehicle to a a rousing welcome told the gathering that he is eminently qualified to lead the country saying he is courageous and fearless and has the capacity and integrity to rescue the country from” the way It is sliding”.
” This country today requires a leader that is focused and one that has capacity. We need someone courageous and focused and I can tell you that I have the courage and Iam not afraid of anyone and I can make things better for this country.” He said.
Wike, who told his party members that he was in the state to formerly ask them for their endorsement on May 28 and 29 assured that if given the ticket, taking power back to the villa would be a done deal.
” All I have come to say is that I want to be given the opportunity on May 28 and 29 to represent PDP in the fight coming up in 2023. If you do that for me,then you have to go back to the villa. We must win this election. What we are going to do is to give it to PDP. We are not begging. We are ready to take it back because the power belongs to PDP.
In his remarks, A former Military Governor of Ondo State and National Vice Chairman of the PDP Chief Olabode George pledged the support of the party to Wike.
The elder statesman described Wike as a man who has “courage and resourcefulness in abundance.” He also has age on his side. We need a bright person who can bring us out of the doldrums and we are ready to support you in Lagos.”.
