Ondo State Governor,Rotimi Akeredolu ( SAN) has directed all political appointees and other public servants aspiring for political offices in the state ahead of me 2023 general election to resign on or before Thursday,14th April,2022.
A memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government,Oladunni Odu, and addressed to all political appointees in the state requested all aspiring appointees to resign within the next 48 hours
The SSG said the decision was based on the Electoral Act 2022 which provides that political appointees and public servants aspiring to contest elections must resign their positions before the conduct of political party primaries.
” As you are aware, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency,Gen Muhammadu Buhari ( GCFR) has signed the amended the amended Electoral bill into Law and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released guidelines on the conduct of the impending general elections thereby signaling the commencement of intense political activities both at the Federal and State levels.
” Consequently, and in line with the provision section 84(12) of the electoral act,2022..
Political and public office holders desirous of participating in the political process either as a contestant for elective positions or as delegates should resign their appointments on or before Thursday,14th April,2022.
