The Fugar Community in Edo state has applauded the Benin Electricity Distribution Company for its prompt response to reconnect the electricity power supply to the community.
A statement by the national executive council of the Fugar Progressive Union, FPU, signed by the National Public Relations Officer, Mr Solomon Obomighie, says that the BEDC Plc has apologised to the community for the inconveniences caused by the disconnection, which they acknowledged was carried out in error.
The statement also hinted that the FPU,
NEC, had directed the Fugar Electricity and BEDC Plc Liason Committee, to continue engaging with the BEDC Plc and Fugarians, so as to ensure that the consumers of electricity in the community are accorded their rights as provided by the Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and that the consumers also perform their obligations.
“NEC, wishes to commend the Engr. Musa Okhakhumhe led Fugar Electricity and BEDC Plc Liason Committee for their selfless service to the community. It also thanked Chief Tony Idegu for participating in all the meetings with the BEDC Plc, and all the Online Media platforms that used their medium to sensitise the country on the actions of the BEDC Plc in Fugar as well as all other Fugarians that put pressure on the BEDC Plc, in different ways” the statement remarked.
You will recall that the BEDC disconnected the electricity supply to Fugar community for over two weeks over alleged debt, which the community has disputed.
Our Correspondent spoke to an official of the BEDC not wanting his name mentioned and he confirmed that the disconnection was done in error, while also thanking the FPU for its mediatory role.
