A Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara for Defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC.).
In his ruling on Friday, presiding Judge,D. I Okorowo said that Mr Dogara’s defection was wrong and meant he should vacate his seat at the lower chamber.
Mr Dogara who represents Bogoro Dass Federal Constituency of Bauchi State had dumped the ruling party on whose platform he was elected in 2015 to the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in 2018.
He parted ways with the opposition party in 2020 in what was believed to be irreconcilable differences between the former speaker and the incumbent governor of the state,Bala Mohammed.
Putting his grievances though a letter dated July 24,2020 and addressed to the Bogoro ‘ C ‘ Ward Chairman,Dogara cited a breakdown of governance in Bauchi by the governor whom he claimed to have helped installed in 2015.
According to him, staying in the opposition party in the face of disturbing issues without asking questions and telling the truth would be seen as disloyalty by the party and make him most irresponsible politician in the state.
