The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Rivers State Command has commenced an intensive security and surveillance patrol across the 23 local government area in the State.
While carrying out the order of the State Commandant Abu Abdu Tambuwal; the Head of operations department who led the special forces said having identified some flash points and made necessary threat analysis; the command deemed it fit to deploy the tactical team which includes: Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), Special Intelligence Team and the Commandant Special forces who have been directed to arrest criminal elements threatening the peace and security of the people during Sallah festivities.
” The NSCDC Rivers State Commandant has directed that a tactical security surveillance commences with periodic patrol covering Eid prayer grounds, markets, amusement parks, Shopping malls and all public gatherings. This is very central and germane because the protection of lives and properties of the good people of Rivers State is our utmost priority. On this note we wish to assure the public that our Rapid Respond Squad is on standby and ready to respond to all emergencies in due course”.
Let me also use this opportunity to commend the unalloyed synergy and collaborations among the Security Agencies in the State as this has continuously enhanced the security architecture and the relative peace enjoyed by the people. It is also pertinent to advice Parents and Guardians to refrain their children from joining criminal minded elements as anyone arrested would be prosecuted accordingly.
He further affirmed that the command has also renewed her commitment to tackling insecurity, vandalism of oil pipelines, oil bunkering and illegal dealings in petroleum products as the public are as well enjoined to partner with the NSCDC by providing credible Intelligence that would assist in nipping in the bud all acts of economic sabotage in the State from time to time.
