The Igbo
Socio Cultural and Political organisation, Nzuko Ndigbo, has called on Nigerians to support a President of Igbo extraction as next President in 2023.
The decision was conveyed in a statement signed by the Convener, Chuks Ibegbu and Secretary General, Okezie Dick, after their meeting at Umuawa Alaocha, Ohuhu in Umuahia North LG of Abia State.
The group also resolved that the Insecurity in Igboland is becoming intolerable.
“Unknown and known gun men have taken over Igbo geographic space and we can no longer tolerate that. Igbos have respect for human life”.
It called on all traditional and community leaders to take steps to fish out bad boys and youths in their domains while also calling for a vigilance to ensure infiltrators from outside Igbo land do not come in to cause havoc there under the guise of ESN or IPOB.
“We deplore the killing and cutting off of the heads of two military personnel in Imo state and call for a discreet investigation of the matter. Ndigbo are not known for that kind of barbarism”, the statement added.
The group called for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and urged all stakeholders in Igbo land to come together to chart a cause for Ndigbo when Kanu is finally released.
“Releasing our brother without charting a common cause for Ndigbo collectively will still be a challenge. We should be able to interface with our brother and agree on what Ndigbo really want in and from Nigeria when he is finally released”
The group insisted that its Igbo turn to produce the next Nigeria President.
“We are shocked that the PDP and the APC have discountenanced the mood of the nation on zoning the Presidency to Igbo land and South East in particular. Its not yet late, however, for the two parties and others to listen to the voice of reason and do the needful in the interest of the nation”, it maintained.
The group also called on all Igbo and South East Presidential aspirants to come together to agree on who among them should be commonly supported to fly the mantle.
“Nzuko Ndigbo will play a vital role to facilitate this. We call on all Delegates to the primaries to do the right thing and key into the mood of the nation. They must resist fiduciary influence”
It advised Ndigbo to think home and invest at home, “Let the akuruoulo philosophy prosper in Igbo land”.
