The Minister of State for Education,Emeka Nwajiuba has resigned from office.
His resignation followed President Muhammadu Buhari’s order to all political appointees eyeing elective offices to resign.
The President had at the National Executive Council NEC meeting on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa has asked those affected by the order to put in their resignation on or before May 16,2022.
The president reportedly ordered the resignation of public political aspirants to avoid disqualification of All Progressives Congress APC candidates in the 2023 General Election.
The Court of Appeal in Abuja vacated the judgement of the Umuahia Court which voided Section 84 12, making the continued resumption of duties of political appointees impossible..
Section 84 ( 12) states that ” No political appointees at any level shall be a voting delegate or be voted for at the Convention or Congress of any political party for the purpose of the nomination of candidates for any election.”
