Earlier on Saturday, the Sokoto State Governor,Aminu Waziri Tambuwal had imposed a 24- hour curfew, but this did not in any way deter the hoodlums who threatened to deal with anyone that spoke against the murder of the female student.
A resident who spoke to current matters said that the hoodlums were armed with all manners of dangerous weapons expresing Islamic chants.
The source said the hoodlums who cared less about the presence of security agencies have marked out several churches government establishments and private homes for destruction.
Kukah is the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto. He is well informed about the situation in the country and had raised his voice to draw public attention to the ills of the country. The destroyed buildings were said to have cost the Catholic church over N1Billion
Fear and uncertainty have iengulfed christian abodes as the government seemed helpless in curtailing the harrowing destructions happening in the state.
The sourcce opined that the ongoing massive destruction is alarming saying there is more to it than Blasphemy of which Ms Deborah Samuel was brutally murdered.
He said” As I speak with you, Sokoto is burning. This is not the town I grew up and became a Man. This is un imaginable, preposterous. I don’t know who is fueling this. But certainly it has passed story of Blasphemy. It looks like something premeditated. We don’t what. There is tension everywhere. We don’t know where to run to as we are marked for destruction. Please use your medium to tell the Federal Government about our situation to save us” .
