Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP) citing irregularities in the conduct of the just concluded governorship primary in Abia State.
Abaribe has also resigned from office as Senate Minority leader.
In two separate letters he personally signed and issued and sighted by current matters, the former PDP Guber aspirant and Senator representing Abia South informed the Peoples Democratic Party chairman of his ward that is resignation from the party stems from” the shameful display of illegality, impunity and undemocratic decision of the party” .
Abaribe, in another letter addressed to the Senate President, Ahmed Lawan wrote” This is to notify you and my dear colleagues in the Senate that I have formally resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party through my ward. This also means my resignation as (the) Minority Leader of the Senate.
” I wish to thank you and my dear colleagues in the Leadership of the Senate for the warm camaderie we enjoyed while I was Minority Leader”
Sources close to the former Senate Minority Leader said the Senator has joined the All Progressives Grand Alliance ( APGA) to pursue his return to the Senate.
