A High Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Friday sentenced three persons to death by hanging over the killing of Mrs Funke Olakunri, daughter of leader of Pan- Yoruba Social cultural organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti
The convicts, Muhammed Shehu Usman,Mazaje Lawal and Adamu Adamu reportedly killed Mrs Olakunri on July10,2019 along Ore- Ijebu Ode highway in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
Another suspect,,Awalu Abubakar who was arraigned for conspiracy,aiding and abetting was discharged and acquitted.
The deceased was on her way from Akure to Lagos to attend a programme when she was shot dead.
Her driver,Femi Ajayi was kidnapped and freed after spending seven days in captivity.
The State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice,Sir Charles Titiloye preferred eight- count charge bordering on murder, kidnapping,armed robbery and conspiracy against the suspects but they pleaded not guilty to the charge.
