Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has emerged the top choice for Atiku’s running mate.
A 19 member-panel set up by the National Working Committee NWC of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in conjunction with the flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar on Tuesday evening in Abuja reportedly voted in favour of the Rivers Governor who they claimed was capable to swing the party to victory in 2023.
Wike beat the Delta State Governor, Ifeanyi Okowa by 16 votes to 3 to emerge the PDP’s Presidential Candidate’s running mate
Those in the panel include the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and other governors, some members of the NWC and some BOT members.
Recall that Wike was the first runner up in the Party’s Presidential primaries conducted on May 28,2022 at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja
Earlier on Tuesday, the National Chairman of the party, Iyorcha Ayu had said that the party would announce the presidential running mate in the next 48 hours.
