A river of diesel has been created in Igbo community in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State after a tanker laden with diesel fell off a major road in the community and spilled its content.
The vehicle reportedly fell after it collided with a truck carrying sand.
The fall of the tanker was seen as a good omen by members of the community as Men, Women and Youths in droves moved to the scene of the accident and scooped diesel with their jerrycans and buckets to their homes.
Some of them were heard saying if diesel want to catch fire, let it catch fire,we are ready to die inside in quick response to an onlooker who warned that diesel is highly inflammable.
The price of Diesel is currently put at N654. 46 per litre about $1.560 and out of the reach of many in the country.
The high price of the commodity has brought untold hardship to many operating various businesses which perhaps ignited the fearless and undaunting response from the scoopers.
