President Muhammadu Buhari has sworn in Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the acting Chief Justice of the Federation ( CJN)
The ceremony happened a few minutes ago at the Executive Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Justice Ariwoola’s appointment follows the resignation of Justice Tanko Muhammed Monday morning.
Mohammed had cited health challenges as reason for his resignation, however, prior to his resignation on Monday, the former CJN was involved in a running battle with no fewer than 14 of the 17 Supreme Court Justices over issues bordering on corruption.
Justice Ariwoola’ becomes the third Justice appointed to oversse the nation ‘s apex court within 7 years of the Buhari administration.The first was Justice Walter Onnonghen who was forced out of service by President Buhari over alleged corruption. He was replaced by outgone Justice Tanko Muhammed.
