The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA) has arrested seven persons and seized 37.67kg of cocaine worth N684 million at the Port Harcourt International Airport.
NDLEA commander in charge of the Airport,Mr Isaac Oludare disclosed this is to reporters on Wednesday.
He said the command arrested five suspects who were Brazilian returnees and two accomplices
According to him, one of the suspects was an ex – convict who just served his jail term in Brazil but returned to Nigeria with illicit drugs.Another he said was currently standing trial before a Federal High Court in Lagos on alleged drug trafficking.
Oludare said that the drugs were concealed in a way that suggest that they were factory fitted adding” they were carefully packaged in a cream, plastic bottles of perfumes, tires of lawn mower and sealed “
He said investigation have been concluded and the suspects have been arraigned and remanded.
He said the command has held meetings with different groups within the airport community sensitizing them on the dangers of drug abuse .
