The European Union (EU) Managing Director for Africa, Mrs Rita Laranjinha accompanied by EU Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Samuel Isopi and other EU and United Nations (UN) officials have begun a tour of military operations in North East Nigeria.
The team first point of call today, Monday, 18 July 2022, was a courtesy visit to the Theatre Commander Joint Task Force (JTF) North East (NE) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Christopher Musa.
The team leader stated that they were on a joint mission to the North East to have first hand Information on the security situation of the region as well as make proper consultation with relevant authorities to safely conduct and operate its recently commissioned projects in the North East.
Mrs Rita expressed delight over the beautiful sight and calm nature of the one time most troubled region in Nigeria..
“I must commend the military for doing a great job without relenting”, she added.
The Theatre Commander, who gave a brief break down on the security situation of the region thanked the team for deeming it necessary to visit the Theatre.
He expressed immense appreciation for the usual cooperation accorded the Theatre by International organizations and also commended the EU for its effort in responding to global crises and insecurity across the world.
While recounting how the African Union recently donated logistics equipment to the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Gen Musa applauded International Organizations for their continuous support.
Standing on the statement of the team leader that, “the security framework or situation of any country is a key determinant of the success of EU and UN projects”
The delegates assured the Theatre Commander of making all necessary efforts to see that the Theatre is adequately furnished with the needed logistics equipment and other platforms.
