The All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Presidential Candidate and former Governor of Borno State, Senator Kashim Shettima has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to specially thank his successor in office, Governor Babagana Zulum for his loyalty that paved the way for him to emerge the vice presidential candidate of the party for the 2023 elections.
Shettima who disclosed this when he along with Zulum and Mustapha Shehuri, Minister of State, Agriculture, paid a visit to President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa shortly after his unveiling, said Zulum was the APC governors favourite choice for the vice presidential ticket but he rejected the” recurring mention” of him to bid for the ticket.
According to a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu ,Shettima also thanked President Buhari for establishing the North East Development Commission and the Independent Power Plant by NNPC in Maidaguri saying ” I can cite 20-30 instances of support you have rendered for which you will be remembered”
He pledged to remain” loyal and “devoted to President Buhari but promised that his vice presidency will not be for the” troika of Hausa,Fulani and Kanuri” but for all Nigeria, irrespective of ethnicity, religion or geographical place of origin.
In his remark, President Buhari hailed the Tinubu/ Shettima ticket and assured them of his support for their victory at the 2023 polls.
