The All Progressives Congress ,(APC),Osun State says it will challenge the election of Senator Ademola Adeleke, Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party( PDP) , winner of the July 16 governorship election in the State.
The State Chairman of the party , Gboyega Famodun while briefing journalists at a press conference on Thursday said the move was based on advice of lawyers that the party had good reasons to challenge the results of the election at the tribunal.
” We are going to the tribunal. Our lawyers had informed us that we have good reasons to challenge the results of the election at the tribunal.”
It would be recalled that Adeleke scored 403,371 votes to beat his closest rival, Governor Gboyega Oyetola candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC who scored 375,027 votes.
The party chairman also berated the factional group loyal to the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola against the recent protest by the group calling for the removal of the state chairman and restructuring of the party after they openly supported the PDP to win the election, describing the action as.” shameful, callous and wicked”.
“Assuming without conceding that there are challenges within the party, the protesters and their patron should know that they lack moral right to either suggest or effect likely solution to the restructuring of our party,as it is on record that they massively and collectively worked against Oyetola.
” Since members of the factional group, the TOP people, had done their worst by working assiduously and conscientiously by teaming up with the PDP for the success of Adeleke, which is the highest level of an anti party activity that can be committed by any politician,it will be a needless venture to enter into any pact with the group that is bereft of honour ” Famodun said.
