Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP), Abubakar Atiku on Thursday met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.
The meeting was held at the Abuja residence of a chieftain of the party ,Prof. Jerry Gana.
This is the first time the duo would meet after the PDP presidential party which held in May 2022.
Crisis had engulfed the main opposition party shortly after the selection of a Vice Presidential Candidate which reportedly was at variance with the will of most members of the Board of Trustees ( BoT) and the National Working Committee NWC of the party.
A committee was said to be set up to select the vice presidential candidate amongst three contenders, Wike,Udom Emmanuel and Ifeanyi Okowa. While majority of the committee members settled for Wike, Atiku had gone for Okowa given reasons which were unpalatable and angered some officials and members loyal to the Rivers Governor.
The Wike camp had reportedly snubbed a recent meeting of the party when they realized that the condition which they reportedly put forth for backing the Presidential Candidate was jettisoned.
