The Okrika Language Audio Bible Recording has been successfully completed.
This was made known by the Chairman of the Bible Society of Nigeria, Rivers/Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno last Sunday, while addressing the members of the Christ Army Church of Nigeria Saint Michael’s Cathedral, Bolo in Ogu/Bolo Local Government Area, Rivers State in continuation of the 2022 Bible Week Celebration.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno said that the completion of the Audio Bible would aid evangelism efforts of Okrika language speaking people in Ogu/Bolo, Okrika and parts of Port Harcourt Local Government Areas.
He said, apart from evangelism, the translation of the Bible ( the Written Word of God), the Bible Society of Nigeria is assisting to preserved our indigenous languages.
The Chairman, then solicited for the full cooperation of the Cathedral with other churches, especially the Saint Gabriel’s Anglican Church, Bolo that had been holding forth working with the Society, adding that the Christ Army Church should be active with BSN activities.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno announced that the Cathedral would be listed to host the Area Meeting next year and called for enrollment of members in the various category of membership of the Society.
Also speaking, the Amanyanabo of Bolo and a Special Member of the Society, King Ascheseinimie M. Frank JP Bolo-Luku VII raised alarm about the obvious neglect of the teaching and speaking of our Mother Tongue in Rivers State.
King Frank revealed that out of the 25 Language Group in Rivers State eight languages have almost gone to extinction.
The Amanyababo said that the Society efforts would greatly assist in preserving more language groups in Rivers State and indeed Nigeria.
He challenged mothers to teach the local language to their children and those under their care and avoid sparking foreign languages to them.
Responding, the Vicar in charge of the Cathedral, Venerable Nathan Dokubo Samuel commanded the efforts of the Society in translating and distributing the Bible in the society.
Venerable Samuel assured and pledged that the Church would henceforth work with the BSN to achieve its aims and objectives.
As a practical step of the Church readiness to work with the Society, Venerable gave forms to Chiefs Eli Amamina Ateke Mawa, Frank Morrison Igbikiowubo Avenge and Rueben Ifiesimama Mordecaih Igbacha and they on the spot filled the form to become Special Members of the Society.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno had earlier presented the BSN Magazine,
Membership Forms and other literatures of the Society to Venerable Nathan Dokubo Samuel .
