..as Tinubu,Adamu, Umahi, Akpabio, others have roles to play
The All Progressives Congress APC has appointed President Muhammadu Buhari as Chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council as parties gear up for campaigns which begin in September,2022.
The decision was reportedly reached during a meeting Wednesday in Abuja between the party presidential candidate,Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governors elected on the platform of the APC .
The decision it was learnt ,does not affect the appointment of Plateau State Governor, Simon Lalong as the Director General of the Campaign Council. However, Lalong is expected to report to Mr President who is vested with the power to make final decisions on funding and operations of the campaign.
Also appointed as members of the campaign council are, the candidate,Bola Tinubu as Deputy Chairman(1) while the National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu is Deputy Chairman ( 2).
Governor of Kebbi State, Atiku Bagudu and three others, Senator Godswill Akpabio , the Vice Presidential Candidate, Kassim Shettima and Uju Kennedy, the only female aspirant at the party national convention were appointed Vice Chairmen of the campaign council.
Also included in the council are,former National Chairman, Adams Oshiomole who will serve as Deputy Director General ( Operations). Former NPA MD,Hadiza Bala Usman is Deputy Director General,Admin,
Others are Hon. James Faleke ( Secretary), Christopher Takar,, Deputy Secretary.
Jigawa State Governor, Abubakar Badaru was appointed coordinator for the North, while Governor Dave Umahi is to coordinate the South.
The party has also created 14 directorates and appointed zonal campaign coordinators who would be led by the governors of the zones.
The coordinator of the North Central zone is Governor Abubakar Sanii Bello of Niger State, while Gombe State Governor,Inuwa Yahaya would coordinate North East. Zamfara State Governor,Bello Matawalle is to coordinate North West, Governor Ben Ayade to coordinate the campaign in South South while, Governor Hope Uzodinma is campaign coordinator for South East.
