Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have arrested a man for killing his friend, Kehinde Ajayi, who disappeared from his house in the Felele area of Lokoja on July 24, this year.
It was gathered that the suspect killed Ajayi who just bought a Toyota Sienna.
The suspect, who is said to be in air conditioner repairs, was said to have lured Ajayi at about 10am with two other friends to a place to celebrate his new car and since then Ajayi was not seen.
According to a police source “Following the report of the victim’s disappearance by his family to the police, one of his friends was arrested last week and he gave an information which led to the arrest of the prime suspect.’’
It was further gathered that after killing him, the suspect went away with the deceased’s new Sienna.
The suspect reportedly took policemen to his house on Monday at Felele-Lokoja where he buried the corpse of Ajayi.
It was learnt that youths attacked the suspect’s house after the corpse was exhumed by the police.
The command’s spokesman, SP William Ayah, confirmed the incident, saying the corpse of the late Ajayi had been recovered and the suspect in police custody.
Ayah added that the command was working hard to arrest others involved in the crime..
