….. Says Ayu seeking office of Secretary to Government in Atiku’s presidency
Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that he is not afraid of any punitive measures effected against him by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP.)
Wike made this known while answering a question on threats of suspension in a media chat on Friday in Government House, Port Harcourt.
The Governor said that while to the best of his knowledge he had done nothing wrong to deserve suspension, that in doing so, the party should take whatever it sees.
He reiterated his stance for fighting for justice, equity and fairness in the party and said that the fact that the people are fed up with the All Progressives Congress APC government does not in any way translate to upturning the tradition of inclusivity in the PDP.
Wike said though the PDP is an advantaged position to win the 2023 general elections, that its failure to address internal grievances could spell doom for the party.
The governor disclosed that the reason why the National Chairman of the party,Dr Iyorcha Ayu refused to resign is because of his ambition to be appointed Secretary to the Government of the Federation if Atiku wins saying that they have already shared offices for 2023.
Wike said some of those including one Waziri of Yobe State saying that the party can do without votes from Rivers State do not have electoral value in their states which is the reason for PDP’s serial losses in those States .
The governor said his commitment to good governance , his dedication to serve his state, building massive and visible infrastructure, ensuring fairness and justice and giving the people a reason to be proud of their State is the tonic for his party’s victories in the state.
Those at the event included members of the PDP led by the chairman of the party in the state, Ambassador Desmond Akawor,.
