Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike says he and his supporters do not have plans to leave the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
Wike,who addressed Party stakeholders in Government House on Thursday said he would remain in the party and fight against injustice.
The Governor accused some of the leaders of the party for running away when it mattered most saying “” But we remained, they ran away. Now there’s a fight in the party,we will not run. We will fight it in this party.Those who run away from fight are weak people. .
On Wednesday, the camp loyal to Wike withdrew from the PDP presidential campaign council citing injustice.
The group who met with the Rivers Governor on Tuesday until Wednesday morning in Port Harcourt through their spokesman, Chief Olabode George said they would not participate in the party’s presidential campaign ahead of 2023 unless the National Chairman of the party,Dr Iyorcha Ayu resigns.
They said that the Party Chairman had promised to step down if a Northern candidate emerged since he ( Ayu) I’d also from the north and wondered why he finds it difficult to step down.
Those who attended the meeting included Governor Seyi Makinde, Governor of Abia State,Okezie Ikpeazu, Prof. Jerry Gana,, Former Governor of Gombe State, Ibrahim Dakwambo, Ex – Governor of Ekiti State,Ayo Fayose, Ex – Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke
