A former Deputy Governor of Rivers State, Alabo Sir Gabriel T. Toby and Wife, Dame Doctor Christy Toby have been presented with the Special Member Certificate of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN).
Speaking while receiving the Certificate presented to the Couple by the Chairman of the BSN Rivers Bayelsa Area, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno at the Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Port Harcourt today, Alabo Toby called on Christians in Rivers and Bayelsa States to embrace the Society to achieve its aims and objectives.
Sir Toby noted with pleasure the place of the Society in the Christian Community to supplement the efforts of evangelism and other programmes.
The Former Deputy Governor expressed appreciation to the BSN for the Special Member Certificate which he said would spur him to do more in terns of support.
He further stated that he was happy to up grade their membership from the popular Life Member to the Special Member Category which is the highest in the Society.
Sir Toby strongly advised other members of the Church to up grade theirs and also called for members to join the BSN.
The newly admitted Special Member, Alabo Toby pledged that his family would continue to render support to the Society in Kingdom work activities and programmes.
Earlier in his speech, the BSN Area Chairman, Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno congratulated the Couple for their admission into the top most membership of the Society and thanked them for their regular support to the BSN.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno also commended the leadership of Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church being one of the most Bible Society Friendly Church and the only Church that had established the Society at Church Level in the two States.
The Chairman in welcoming the Couple into the Special Membership Forum on behalf of the Life Patron of the BSN, General Doctor Yakubu Gowon, stressed the need for the Church to increase their Special Membership to 50, saying that the Church had the capacity to achieve that even more.
Highlight of the occasion was presentation of New Testament Bibles to the Church for its evangelism outreach.
