Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has been speaking to Nigerians in a “Media Chat” to enable them have a first hand knowledge of what’s going on in the Peoples Democratic Party PDP.
The governor in the programme which is second in a likely series told his audience that If he and other governors on his side should decide to leave the PDP, the party would crumble at the 2023 election as they are not ordinary ordinary governors that the party should toy with
” If I leave the party today, PDP cannot win the election. If the five PDP governors say they are leaving today,we are not just ordinary governors,we are very committed and strong.
The governor berated the PDP for its stance which he noted would lead to defeat saying ” There is nobody that wants to win election and still continue the way they are doing. I have supported many states financially to win election in the past, including Plateau,Ondo, Cross Rivers and they cannot deny it.
Meanwhile, the governor has said that if he revealed who Ayu truly is, no one including Ayu ‘s children would take Ayu seriously .
The governor who was speaking during Friday’s media chat said for the love of party he would not make it public but
Wike had earlier said that Ayu collected N1bn bribe from a presidential aspirant in Lagos. The governor also said that Ayu collected N100mn bribe from a sitting governor.
The crisis rocking the PDP seems to grow faster and stronger as the demands that Ayu must go and threats by party bigwigs including 5 governors ahead of the 2023 general elections proves to be a pain in the neck
Following the emergence of Atiku Abubakar ( North East) as Presidential Candidate, Wike and his allies are pushing for balance in the party ‘s hierarchy.
They argued that with the election of Atiku from the north which they have accepted, there should be a principle of inclusivity where the North and South would share positions fairly.
They averred that Ayu who equally comes from the north should resign as he promised before the primary election that” if a northerner emerges,he will step down “
The presidential candidate had met with Wike and his group several times but nothing fruitful has emerged from such meetings yet, and the group of five governors insist they will only support the party and the presidential candidate only when Ayu quits..
