No fewer than two persons were shot dead and many others abducted when bandits broke into Abdulsalami Abubakar General Hospital, Gulu, Lapai Local Government Area on Monday night.
Among those abducted are a Doctor,nurses , pharmacist, patients and their relations. The Doctor is identified as Dr John.,Head Clinical Services.Others identified are the Head of Hermatology, Usman Zabbo, and Awaisu Bida,a staff of medical laboratory.
Also abducted were wife of the Head of Nursing Services and his daughters, wife and a daughter of the Chief Pharmacist, and many other relations of the patients.
Current Matters gathered that the hospital is now a shadow of itself as medical personnel and auxillary staff have stayed away from the hospital..
The situation is dire according to a source who pleaded unnamed.
” We can no longer continue to go to that hospital. Our homes are not safe .Now, they have come to carry doctors, nurses even patients,no one was spared.No one knows when they will come again.
” Of all places it is hospital they will come and kidnap people.”
The abduction of the medical personnel is believed to be a move to treat bandits wounded by sustained firepower of the Nigerian Military.
