……assures commitment to project delivery
Rivers State Governor,Nyesom has said that another phase of commissioning of projects will commence before the end of the year.
The governor made this known at a dinner , Monday in Government House, Port Harcourt over the Public Service Award of Excellence in Infrastructure conferred on him by President Muhammadu Buhari
Wike dedicated the award to God and the people of Rivers State who he said prayed fervently for the success of his administration.
He said that the first phase of the Trans – Kalabari road project which predated his administration will be commissioned in December while the eight and ninth flyovers are ready for commissioning.
The governor said that he started the flyover projects in 2019 and explained that between 2019 and 2022, his administration has completed 10 flyovers.
According to the governor, the remaining flyovers will be completed before he leaves office in May next year.
Wike also gave an update on other projects including schools and roads.
The governor said his administration has taken over rebuilding of abandoned government schools in communities including Emohua adding that work on the 27 kilometre Chokocho- Igbodo road linking Etche to Imo and other states has achieved about 20 km completion.
He said on account of the fact that the ruling party has recognised the hardwork of his administration in relation to project delivery , there is no basis on which the opposition parties would campaign
Wike , again used the forum to praise Dr Peter Odili,a former governor of the state for his support that has made him to attain political stardom and reiterated his position on the issue of annointing a successor.
He said contrary to insinuations about agreeing to annoint a successor, he never promised anyone that he would make him governor . He said his response to those who came to him for annointing was to go and work hard adding that If Indeed he promised anyone to succeed him, his conscience will prick him.
The governor spoke about the challenges and transitory nature of his office but said he would leave in May a happy man as a result of his performance.
