The Presiding Archbishop of the Christ Army Church of Nigeria (CACN), His Grace Most Revd Dr Ibiba Siri has described the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN) as the means the Written Word of God was communicated to the grassroot level.
Archbishop Siri made the state remark yesterday during the presentation and admission of Special Members of the BSN at the Supreme Headquarters of the CACN, Saint Paul’s (St Garrick’s Braided) Cathedral, Bakana in Degema Local Government Area, Rivers State.
He said “the efforts of the Society is worth encouraging and supporting from all denominations within the Christian Family”.
The Archbishop further said ” the BSN contributions in the Christian Fold is not seen physically, but the spiritual aspects is noticed in the growth and expansion of the Christian Faith “.
Dr Siri who is also a United Nations Peace Ambassador declared ” I have noted with pressure the positive support and assistance of the BSN to the Church of Christ, his Church will continue partner and contribute both financial and morale to the Society to achieve its aims and objectives “.
The Christ Army Church Presiding Archbishop commended the efforts of the Rivers/Bayelsa BSN Area under the leadership of Elder Omoni Ayo-Tamuno, BSN-SPM which had promoted the Society’s programmes and activities among churches in Bayelsa and Rivers States.
He pledged that the Christ Army Church of Nigeria would encourage all churches in the denomination to work in cooperation with the BSN, adding that in the next year’s BSN Week Celebration, more special members would be enrolled.
Speaking at the occasion, the Area Chairman, Elder Ayo-Tamuno disclosed that the Cathedral had the highest number of Special Members recorded in the Area.
Elder Ayo-Tamuno further disclosed that the Cathedral had for the past two years contributed the highest donation during the Society’s Week Celebration.
The Chairman lauded the Archbishop for his commitment to the Society’s programmes and activities and congratulated him on the award of Ambassador for Peace accorded him by one of the United Nations agencies, last week Sunday.
Among those awarded with the Special Membership Certificates are Dr Mrs Truth I. Yellowe wife of the late Distinguished Senator Martnys Yellowe, Pastor and Mrs Opirite Iyalla, the Mother of the Cathedral, Madam Intokinibo Yellowe, Mrs Agamaba A. Tomobomieye and Rev Canon and Mrs John Basoene Yellowe.
