A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP,Chief Ambrose Nwuzi has threatened to sue those who vandalise or sell government properties in Etche Land.
Nwuzi said the action was necessary to protect government facilities in the area and deter others from encroaching on government land with the aim of vandalising or selling them off.
Speaking to reporters in Port Harcourt, Nwuzi said that the Delta Rubber Company which was once the pride of Etche had been vandalised with a greater portion of its land being sold off by one Emma Nwobilor.
He asked the alleged seller of the land to return the money to the buyers while asking those who have paid to take back their money and others planning to buy the land to steer clear .
Nwuzi observed that the state government Rubber plantation in Abara has been sold off by similar criminal elements while the Odogwa Rubber plantation is in the process of being sold also by criminals.
“One Mr Emma Nwobilor connived with others to sell land belonging to govt.and entire etche
“Before I was born, Delta Rubber has been in existence. Delta Rubber company is a company that the state government owned . I Know that the last chairman of the board of Delta Rubber is from Etche.. I can mention names of other board members who served in that Delta Rubber.Etche people are clamouring making their necessary contacts to ensure that we bring in companies to Etche where our sons and daughters shall be employed. If we are all making this effort how would somebody now go ahead and sell the whole land?.Im calling on Etche people to wake up because when the time will come I know I will be part of the people government would ask, how did it happen?
“And, that’s why I’m saying, I’m putting it on note that for those of them who illegally acquired the land belonging to Delta Rubber Company, to please, if they have paid they should take back their money. ,If they have not paid, they should stay clear.because, before government goes to court,I will go to court to challenge it. We cannot be supporting evil. If you want to make money, there are legitimate ways to make money, not making money by selling property that belongs to government. That is criminal, barbaric and uncalled for by this time in Etche Land.”
Nwuzi therefore, asked the seller of the property to return the money to the buyers saying anything contrary would result in court action against him.
